Tara, Ontario

Tara is a quaint village of about one thousand residents located on the Sauble River in the municipality of Arran-Elderslie in Bruce County. Despite its small size, Tara is an active community with a thriving business district, agricultural society, curling club and several churches.

Tara is a close-knit rural community and ralies around their citizens, big and small. The Arran-Tara Agricultural Society holds an annual fall fair in September where visitors can enjoy bountiful harvest displays and livestock and poultry judging before visiting the midway. The first Arran-Tara Fall Fair was held in 1858 and the fair continues to bring residents together to showcase the best of country living. The Tara Festival of Crafts also takes place ever year with almost 200 exhibitors of handcrafted items.

A short drive down the road is the Keady Farmer’s Market. Running every Tuesday from 7 am until 2 pm, from May until October, the market has 250 vendors selling a wide variety of goods, from produce to home baking, antiques and crafts.

With its prime river location, Tara is a great place for fishing and there are also ten small lakes within 20 km of the village, which are perfect for the active sportsman.

Tara offers relaxing, small town living while being only 20 minutes away from either Southampton or Owen Sound. It’s an ideal place to call home, whether you’re looking for a house, a farm with acreage or a property to build on.
