Volunteering in your community is not just about giving back. It also helps you gain new skills and experiences, better health and more friends. Volunteering gives you a chance to contribute to the kind of community you want to live in. There are many benefits to lending your hand to your community. Not only can you make your community stronger, but you can also help yourself. Are you retired and bored? Then why not get out of your comfort zone and meet new people and feel like you’re truly part of Grey/Bruce Counties? Maybe you’re just in between jobs or recently moved to the area and would like to meet new people. Volunteering is a great place to start! I highly recommend it!
Not sure where to start in your volunteering journey? Your reason for volunteering should begin where your passions lie. That way you’ll be more committed to your volunteering work and your impact will be greater. Do you love helping at fun events? Maybe you love animals? Maybe your true passions lie in helping Seniors, the Displaced or Disabled who really need your support. There are so many opportunities to lend your hand to those who need it.
